  • Name change notification in the Gazette.
  • Certificate of marriage with a photograph.
  • Certificate of ST/SC/OBC with photograph.
  • Name and photograph on a School Transfer Certificate (TC) / School Leaving Certificate (SLC)

  1. It is possible to change your name in your Aadhaar record only twice during your lifetime. 
  2. Changing/updating your name on an Aadhaar card is only possible in the following circumstances:-
  • Changing names after marriage
  • Changing the sequence
  • A full version of the short form has been updated
  • Correction of spelling (It should sound the same phonetically)
  1. If your name change for your Aadhaar card is rejected, call 1947 to find out the reason and how you can proceed.
  2. If you change your address, email address, mobile number, fingerprints, or photographs, you are allowed to do so as many times as you like. However, you can only change your gender and date of birth once in your lifetime.

What Is The Procedure For Applying For A Change In Aadhar Card?

In order to change your name on your aadhaar card, you can easily follow these simple steps to change your name in your aadhaar card. Follow these given steps to change your name on Aadhar card:-

Step 1- Visit the official website of the government to get the Aadhar card name change, and visit the self-service update portal.

Step 2- Enter the OTP that has been sent to your mobile number to confirm your identity and log in using the Aadhar card number.

Step 3- You then need to fill in all the relevant information that you want to change in your aadhaar card, and it can be your name, address, date of birth, mobile number, or any other thing.

Step 4- There will be an option of uploading the necessary documents and then uploading all the necessary documents to confirm your identity. Make sure that you should provide all the documents clearly.

Step 5- Click on review to check all the details that you have entered, and then click on submit. Where your application will be submitted, and you need to pay the fees for the correction.

Step 6- Then, visit the nearby Aadhar card service center to get your biometric verification completed by the authority. This will allow you to confirm a message on your registered mobile number.

How long does it take to correct the name on an Aadhaar card?

You can update your Aadhaar card online or at your local Aadhaar service center within 90 days of receiving it. If you wish to change your name, you can do so online or at the local service center with proper Aadhaar Name Change Documents. In the Aadhaar card, names can only be updated twice, not more than that. The UIDAI officer checks the updated details, and the changes become available online after 90 days.

From the official UIDAI website, you can download the updated Aadhaar Card as a soft copy. Upon receiving your Aadhaar update request, you will receive it at your registered address within 90 days. A Must Do

  • Aadhaar card name change forms must be filled out using capital letters.
  • Provide the correct Aadhaar Name Change Documents and identification proof.
