A birth certificate is a legal document and any mistake in it should be corrected immediately within one year. when hospital staffs do errors while submitting your Children's name, Parent’s names, Date of birth, Gender and other details to the Government Agency.

Sometimes these errors occur at the Government office by staffs entering the details in their records. In this article, we look at the procedure for correction in Birth Certificate.

 

If your child name entered wrong in the birth certificates (like pet names, spelling mistakes), the name can be corrected as per the name entered in the admission register of the concerned school. For correcting the Birth Certificate you should follow the below procedure.

• Approach the Local Birth Registrar of the concerned Local Self Government Institutions i.e. Secretaries of Grama Panchayats and Registrars of Municipalities and Corporations.
• For this the parents have to submit an affidavit stating the reasons why the wrong name entered in the Birth Register

Dear Sir/Madam,
<Child_Name> was born to <Father_Name> and <Mother_Name> on
<Date_Of_Birth>. Birth certificates were issued by MCD on <Birth_Cert_Issue_Date>
(Certificate Nos. <Birth_Cert_Numbers>)
This is in regard with a correction request in birth certificate of <Child_Name>.
Mother’s name needs to be changed from <Present_Name> to <Corrected_Name>.
Kindly make the suggested changes.
